Welcome to MAEK

We're a Western Australian company specialising in sophisticated building projects.

We can apply our knowledge and expertise to almost anything; from residential homes, to commercial projects or interior fit outs.

We are absolute perfectionists in everything we do. And sticklers for bringing in every project on time, and on budget.

Take a look around – and we hope you enjoy seeing some of our work.

MAEK IT HAPPEN

Behind everything MAEK makes is Master Builder, Jon McComish, who has delivered large-scale projects in Australia, Asia and the UK.

The MAEK philosophy is simple; we'll build any structure - anywhere, with any material - to any scale. And we'll do it with incredible attention to detail, extraordinary craftsmanship and exceptional results.

That's a very big promise – but one we have proudly kept in everything we've done.

We're also specialists at Total Project Delivery, which means we can do absolutely everything for you - from a project's inception, design and construction through to the finishing touches of appliances, security systems, fine art installations and furnishings. We've even installed computer networks, software and other equipment for our commercial clients.

MAEK expertly manages the seemingly endless stream of suppliers, tradespeople, installers and consultants. When the project's finished, you move in with absolutely nothing more to do.

We're also very good at seamlessly organising things so our projects are completed within very tight timeframes.

MAEK IT WORK - AS A TEAM

We strongly believe that a project can only have one leader – or captain – in charge of everything. We take on that role – and every responsibility that comes with it.

This avoids any confusion – and creates a collaborative, coherent team with clear goals, shared objectives and the very best results.

Incredible attention to detail, extraordinary craftsmanship and exceptional results.

Bringing a project to life requires a dedicated team of professionals. But it also needs strong leadership and day-by-day direction. At MAEK, we've refined our processes so that we are always in charge of every aspect of a project.

We're highly organised and extremely efficient in the way we approach everything we do. Maybe that's how we often complete a project in half the time it would take one of our competitors.

We enjoy being in charge – and taking full responsibility for every last meticulous detail.

MAEK works with many of Perth's top architects and designers, finding the right one for the job on a project-by-project basis.

Our Portfolio

The best way to see the sort of projects we work on is to explore them for yourself.

In our online portfolio, you can see examples of our residential, commercial and interior fit out work.

Each of these projects had its own unique challenges. You'll see how we solved them, and how we found clever solutions to tricky design and construction problems.

And in each project, you'll be able to discover some of the finer details which are our trademark.

OZBYRD INTERIOR DESIGN

This heritage home in Perth's upmarket suburb of Mosman Park was built in 1938 and renovated in the 1980's.

In 2010, when the property was on the verge of demolition, MAEK was commissioned to reconstruct and significantly extend the home.

One challenge was the in-situ replacement of the second story. We used extensive propping and sophisticated techniques to undertake this delicate operation.

Half way through the project, the client asked us to add a further 900m2 to the building.

And then came the instruction to remove several load-bearing walls in the huge kitchen area.

And so we did. All within a timeframe of 18 months.

New Custom Cliffside Home

Total project delivery.

DON TAYLOR AND ASSOCIATES
VDM ENGINEERS

No detail was spared in creating this sensational three level cliff-side home in Mosman Park, Western Australia.

The design is simple and elegant. But that belies the amount of work involved. And the quality of workmanship had to pass inspection from the new owner who had a long history in the top-tier commercial construction industry.

The landscape was procured early and grown off site during the construction cycle to provide fruit on the first year of the client moving into their home.

One tree was too big to cart by road. So we transported it up river by barge and hoisted it into place with a giant crane.

The project was finished in 24 months.

DEEP GREEN LANDSCAPES
JOSH BYRNE AND ASSOCIATES ENVIRONMENTALISTS

Built by convicts between 1857-1863, and first acquired by Governor James Stirling in 1836, this grand old homestead sits on the oldest lot in Toodyay, Western Australia.

Owned and loved by families for generations, the homestead was in need of some serious attention. Its newest owners saw the potential and shared the vision of a luxury rural retreat which they could enjoy for years to come.

Charged with a large-scale restoration of the 6000-acre property, MAEK recruited a highly-skilled team of people, from artisan carpenters and graziers, to the finest stonemasons and a consultant team including geotechnical engineers, two architects, landscape architects and interior designers.

The result is a fine example of one of Australia's oldest rural properties, restored to its former glory and beyond.

Boutique Commercial Building

JCY ARCHITECTS
RODRIGUES BODYCOAT ARCHITECTS
BG&E ENGINEERS

MAEK teamed up with JCY Architects, Rodrigues Bodycoat Architects and BG&E Engineers to create this contemporary building in the Napoleon Street precinct of Cottesloe, Western Australia.

Standing at three stories on the iconic old Tinkerbell building site, it initially posed some challenges due to poor access and some unusual ground conditions.

To overcome come these conditions, a conventional concrete frame structure was built on foundational piles, some reaching 16m in depth.

A custom façade was then used to create a contemporary structure with a modern European twist.

Super Yacht

Project management.
Construction management.

The finishing specifications for a Super Yacht require everything to be done to a fraction of a millimetre. In fact, the paint and upholstery specs are often above those you'd find on a Ferrari.

So when MAEK's team managed the construction of 35 metre super yacht Anya, we assembled a team over 130 first-class craftsmen. These included some of Australia's best shipwrights, carpenters and joiners, fibreglass experts, aluminium fabricators, engineers and painters.

The project involved some of the world's best naval architects and designers - and the highly-regarded Christain Liagre Interior Design Studio in Paris.

One of the senior French designers said the finishes on the completed yacht were among the best he'd ever seen.

Retail Fit Outs

Project management.
Interior fit outs.

The challenge that retailers face when embarking on a new fit out is two fold:

The quality has to be top end and the product must be delivered on budget and on time - without making sacrifices on quality.

The Elissa Coleman and Poppy Lissiman fashion labels knew they could rely on MAEK to deliver.
